Michael Mercier, President of Screen Education, will participate in the "Gaming Disorder" panel discussion to be held at the Independent Educational Consultants Association Conference on May 8 in Chicago.
The panel was organized by Michael Jacobus, Executive Director of Reset Summer Camp, a clinical camp for gaming addiction and other compulsive Internet behaviors. Reset Summer Camps launched in 2018 with 2 locations, and will expand to 4 locations in the summer of 2019.
In addition to Mr. Mercier and Mr. Jacobus, the panel will also include Dr. Deborah Gilboa, a parenting and youth development expert, Cam Adair, Founder of Game Quitters, and Jeremy Roark of East and West Holistic Counseling.
Screen Education enjoyed participating in the in-service teacher training event at Cincinnati's School for Creative & Performing Arts this afternoon.
The event, organized by 1N5, featured three 30-minute speakers, each of whom covered a different aspect of student wellness. Screen Education was tasked with talking about the ways in which social media negatively impacts young people, and what teachers can do to address this problem.
